Running orienteering in Central Park, the idea sounds great, doesn't it? Especially in such a green season...
I didn't join any competition for a long time, so I think it was a good chance for me to get my sense of direction back, for I will join O-Ringen this year!!!
I chose the course of green(high intermediate), 6.0 km. It was quite ok for me, although I got lost for 20 minutes at least. Before this running, I went to a gym everyday. I asked myself to finish three kinds of trainings everytime, such as running machine, cycling, and stair machine. I used different challenges for the trainings, like the model of random, hill, or fat burnning. I felt my legs and the body were quite ok in spite of a little bit too long distance. However, I made several big and serious mistakes during running, that was why I spent much time. First, I didn't check where the north was. According to general cognitions, the top of the map is always the north. Since the park is not located very appropriately north, what I thought was wrong obviously, and I didn't find my mistake until the third or the forth control point. Second, I was too eager for winning; therefore, I didn't read the map and decide the route very carefully. I was totally lost in this detail map, and I didn't try to find something to stop me(attack point)... As a result, of course, I spent too much time. Inte bra...
Well, after discussing with other people, I knew where my problem was, and I hope I won't make the same mistake next time, I hope., no more.
